Its unique battle system, multiple endings, character-driven side quests, gorgeous pixel art, and dazzling soundtrack all combine for an RPG experience that many rightfully call insurmountable.

Chrono Trigger is, simply put, a juggernaut of a game. Chrono Trigger succeeds for many, many reasons, but its smart use of time travel is tantamount.

By sending Crono and friends on a journey through time, the game removes all restraints for its cast and setting. Chrono Trigger takes advantage of that freedom to pull together diverse personalities and stories for a compelling, magnetic adventure. All of the mechanics and background elements are firing on all cylinders, too.

The active-time battle system builds on the foundation set by Final Fantasy IV to incredible results, making for intense, strategic battles that move at the perfect pace.

If you're not entirely into the retro look then, well, we're not sure Chrono Cross is even a game to consider buying but if you want to stick with it for that amazing story you've heard about, you'll be ok with the mobile port. Absolutely not. It's just the mobile port on a bigger screen and all the text is laid out terribly. It looks like someone made it in RPG maker.
