The director tells the team Gibbs is awake and Abby gets excited and hugs McGee, who smiles and returns the hug. When it is revealed that Gibbs lost his memory, McGee helps Abby to the restroom away from the others during which they have a conversation about what they would have been like 15 years ago.

Later, after Gibbs' memory returns, McGee is on the phone with Abby reassuring her that Gibbs does remember her.
